The Portland Democratic City Committee is preparing an Independence Day bash for the history books. On July 2nd, the PDCC, with local dance party maestros Magnetic Artist, is presenting IndepenDance – Rage Against LePage. This dance party promises a way to celebrate our freedoms on this July 4th holiday, with liberal spirits and revolutionary dance floor action. Party music will be provided by local DJ and event producer DJ Silverchild, along with Digital Bonesaw Society. Headlining the event will be the dance floor stylings of Disco Ball Murder Kit. VJ Foo provides the audio and visual fireworks.  Hostess Holly Danger ‘s laser beams of justice fight corporate greed.

Why Are We Raging?
The policies of Paul LePage are detrimental to Maine.  The abolition of same day voting, which accounted for 20,000 people in the last election and 60,000 in the 2008 presidential election, discounts 80,000 potential voting citizens, regardless of their political affiliation. Environmental protection law rollbacks and rule changes will close many green and alternative energy-related businesses resulting in huge job losses and economic catastrophe.  Hostile worker legislation is resulting in weaker unions plus dangerous and unsafe working conditions. LePage’s budget contains tax cuts for the rich and program cuts for low income families, with no plan to create jobs.
